| Following in his father’s footsteps, Fred Scott served his apprenticeship as a cabinet-maker in High Wycombe before gaining a scholarship to the Royal College of Art in 1963. Widely regarded as the most talented British furniture designer of his generation, his career was dogged by recurring illness. As a freelance designer, his reputation was firmly established with his Supporto series for Hille in 1979; later in his career he worked closely with Hitch Mylius to develop hm25 and other upholstery designs. |
